Cycle for Shelter

Cycle for Shelter

Emmaus’ signature fundraising event, Cycle for Shelter, started in 1989 when our founding Executive Director completed a 1,200-mile bike ride from Georgia to Massachusetts, visiting more than 100 programs serving homeless and impoverished families along the way. Hundreds of Emmaus supporters and cyclists met him when he arrived in Haverhill.

Over the past 38 years, Cycle for Shelter has raised more than $2.4 million for Emmaus. It is an event the community looks forward to each year. Nearly 200 cyclists participate and dozens of local businesses and restaurants sponsor the ride.

The 2026 Event

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, bringing together riders, volunteers and supporters for an unforgettable day of community and impact. While Cycle for Shelter may be over, the opportunity to make a difference continues.

Participants have until October 18, 2026, to raise the necessary funds to take part in the ride, and every dollar contributed also brings us closer to reaching our annual fundraising goal.
