Our Approach
We recognize that every single one of our clients is unique and tailor our services to meet their needs. We believe that everybody deserves safe and affordable housing. This video from 2019 shows how our experienced, caring staff work in partnership with clients to address their housing challenges and help them find their road home.
Our Impact: By the Numbers
Since our founding, we’ve worked to continually evolve and adapt to the changing needs of our clients. We’re proud of the difference we’ve made in thousands of lives.
Why this number matters…
At Emmaus, our mission guides us to care for those in great need. Our clients have faced many obstacles in their lives before they end up at our doorstep, and they deserve our shelter and care.
Our Families:
- 66% of our families include children under 6 years old
- 36% of our mothers in shelter have been victims of domestic violence
Our Individuals:
- 60% of our single adults have more than one disabling condition
- 47% have no income when they enter our shelter
Why this number matters…
Emmaus provides more than just shelter. Housing staff and case managers help our clients find permanent housing, address health issues, find jobs, further their education, and access benefits and community resources.
- 98% of the individuals in our permanent housing are chronically homeless and receive ongoing support services
- The average length of residency for individuals in our permanent housing is 4 1/2 years
- Emmaus administers career services, empowerment education, and parent resource programs to around 250 clients each year
Why this number matters…
Our ultimate goal is to defeat homelessness by providing safe and stable housing to all of our clients. Our staff work tirelessly to place our clients into affordable apartments that will allow them to rebuild their lives.
- We place around 75 families and 40 individuals into permanent housing directly from our shelters every year
- Since 2006, we’ve distributed rental assistance funds to 360 people in households living with HIV/AIDS
- Our housing staff prevent around 180 families from entering emergency shelter each year by using rental assistance funds to keep them housed
